Why Helix Ultimate Sites Need a Header Footer Builder
Helix Ultimate and SP Page Builder are widely used together, but the page builder normally designs the page content, not the header and footer that wrap every page. That leaves site builders with a familiar set of problems:

How the Builder Works, Step by Step
Step 1 — Install the package
Install the Free package from System → Install → Extensions. Pro is a separate package that installs on top of Free.
Step 2 — Create a header or footer and design it
Create a new item in Headers & Footers and click Design with SP Page Builder. One click saves the item, creates its own SP Page Builder page and opens the builder right on the item screen, with an option to open it full screen.
Step 3 — Publish and check the result
Publish the item and open your site. With Theme Takeover, the matched header and footer replace the Helix Ultimate header and footer on every matching page. If you prefer a module position instead, the optional Setup Wizard (with rollback) places the design there. The Health Check screen shows what was detected and what still needs attention, so you never have to guess why a header is not showing.
Update-Safe by Design
The biggest fear with any Helix Ultimate extension is what happens after an update. Joomla Header Footer Builder is built around that question:
No template file edits
Nothing is written to Helix Ultimate or SP Page Builder files or to your template settings. Your work lives in the extension's own tables, so updating or reinstalling them does not remove it.
Safe fallback
If anything fails, the error is logged and your template's own header and footer show. Unpublish or delete an item and the original header and footer return exactly as before.
Replaces only when it is safe
The template's header or footer is replaced only when it is found exactly once. Pop-ups, AJAX responses, the SP Page Builder editor and non-HTML output are left alone.

What Pro Adds: Rules, Effects and Navigation
With Pro you decide which header or footer a visitor sees, how it behaves, and you get two SP Page Builder addons for building the header itself.
Display rules can match by menu item, category, language and user group, picked from your real site data. Each rule can include or exclude, and when several rules match, the most specific rule wins. If nothing matches, your default Helix header or footer is used. A simple example:

Pro also adds three header effects, set per item:
- Transparent header that sits over your hero section
- Hide on scroll to give content more room
- Shrink on scroll for a compact sticky header
Because settings are per item, your homepage header can float while your blog header stays solid. Effects respect visitors' reduced-motion settings.
And two SP Page Builder addons, installed as their own plugin so SP Page Builder updates do not remove them:
- JHFB Nav Menu: any Joomla menu inside your design, with dropdowns (hover and keyboard) and styling from the builder. Below a breakpoint you choose, it becomes a hamburger that opens an off-canvas panel on mobile only, with accordion submenus, Esc/overlay/link close, focus trap and scroll lock.
- JHFB Site Logo: your logo image or site name, linked home, to a URL or not at all, with a responsive height.
Pro needs an active license key, entered under Settings → License. Without one, each Pro feature shows a clear Pro banner instead of a half-working screen, and your saved Pro settings are kept and apply again once the license is active.
