MuRu AI for SP Page Builder: Generate Joomla Pages, Dynamic Content, and Articles — From a Prompt

Building a page in SP Page Builder means picking sections, dragging columns, and filling in blocks one at a time. MuRu AI for SP Page Builder collapses that into one step: describe the page you want in plain language, click Generate, and a real, editable SP Page Builder layout — sections, columns, and content blocks — appears in the editor a few seconds later. It goes further than a single page, too: open a Dynamic Content collection and it builds that collection's index and detail pages for you, wired to the real fields; and from the Joomla Articles list it can create a published article whose body is a full SP Page Builder layout.

What MuRu AI Actually Does
MuRu AI adds a Generate AI Page button right next to SP Page Builder's own Frontend Editor button, on every page you open — plus a Generate pages button when you open a Dynamic Content collection, and a Generate with SP Page Builder AI button on the Joomla Articles list. It doesn't replace SP Page Builder's editor, add a new visual builder, or introduce its own content format. Every page it produces is a normal SP Page Builder page afterwards: the same sections, columns, and blocks you'd get building by hand, fully editable in the same editor.
It also doesn't ask you to sign up for a separate AI service. The plugin reads the API key and model already configured in SP Page Builder's own Settings → Generative AI panel and uses that — OpenAI (gpt-* models) or Google Gemini (gemini-* models). If you're already using SP Page Builder's AI text tools, there's nothing new to configure.
Real SP Page Builder knowledge
Every generation is guided by a purpose-built reference of SP Page Builder's actual sections, columns, and full block catalog — headings, feature grids, pricing tables, accordions, testimonials, galleries — so the model reaches for the right block instead of inventing one that doesn't exist.
Automatic quality control
Before a generated page ever reaches your site, missing or malformed column widths are repaired, every block is confirmed valid, duplicate headings are removed, and anything the model got wrong is discarded rather than left half-broken.
A safety net on every generation
The page you had is snapshotted into SP Page Builder's own Version History the instant before it's replaced. Every generation is one click from undo — no separate backup step needed.
Fails safe, stays out of the way
Administrator-only, nothing added to your public site, and wrapped so a failure here can never break the SP Page Builder editor — at worst, the button simply doesn't appear that time.
How a Generation Actually Happens
Open a page in the editor, click Generate AI Page, and here's what runs behind that one click:
- Prompt window opens — describe the page, optionally start from a built-in template, and choose whether to replace the page or append a new section.
- Your prompt plus a condensed SP Page Builder reference is sent to whichever model you've configured — nothing else about your site is included.
- The model responds with a layout, which is parsed and, if needed, repaired — column widths fixed, invalid blocks discarded, duplicate headings removed.
- Your current content is snapshotted to Version History before anything changes.
- The page is overwritten and the editor reloads with the new layout, stale compiled CSS cleared automatically.
Nothing extra leaves your server
Only your written description and a compact reference of SP Page Builder's page format go to the AI provider you've already chosen — no other page content, files, or site data is ever transmitted.
Replace, Append, or Start From a Template
The Generate window has two independent choices that make it useful beyond a first draft. Apply as lets you pick Replace current page content (the original behavior) or Append as a new section, which adds the generated section to the end of the page and leaves everything already there untouched — new content is always given fresh IDs, so it can never collide with what's already on the page.
Start from a template gives you ten ready-made starting prompts — SaaS landing page, About Us, Services, Pricing, Contact, FAQ, Portfolio, Team, Testimonials, and Coming Soon. Picking one fills the prompt box for you, fully editable before you generate, which is often faster than writing a brief from scratch.
The window also adapts to what you're looking at. On a brand-new empty page it drops the replace warning and the Replace/Append choice entirely — there's nothing to replace, so it just builds the page. On a page that already has content, both appear as before. And when the open page is bound to a Dynamic Content collection, the window tells you which collection the generation will use.
Use a capable model
Small models like gpt-3.5-turbo frequently return invalid layouts — the modal warns you automatically when your configured model is likely too weak. GPT-4o, GPT-4.1, and Gemini 2.5 Pro all produce reliable results.
Dynamic Content-Aware Generation
If the page you're generating on was created through SP Page Builder's own New Page → Dynamic Content flow — an index or a detail page bound to a collection — MuRu AI notices, and builds against that collection's real fields instead of guessing:
- → Index pages get a proper Collection block wired to the collection, with grid or list layout and pagination already working — click-through to the detail page functions immediately.
- → Detail pages get Dynamic Text and Dynamic Media blocks bound to the actual fields you name in your prompt (title, description, specs, images, and so on), not placeholder text.
You still pick the collection and the index/detail role in SP Page Builder's own page-creation screen first — MuRu AI reads that binding, it never changes it.
Generate a Collection's Index & Detail Pages
You don't have to open the two pages one at a time. Open one of your Dynamic Content collections in SP Page Builder (Dynamic Content → a collection) and MuRu AI adds a Generate pages button. Describe both pages at once — for example, "an index with a filterable card grid showing the photo, title, and short description; a detail page with the full description, a specs list, and a gallery" — and it builds them in one run, using the same field-aware generation described above.
The index page
Gets a working Collection listing block bound to the collection, with grid or list layout and pagination — click-through to the detail page works right away.
The detail page
Gets Dynamic Text and Dynamic Media blocks wired to the collection's real fields — title, description, specs, images — instead of placeholder text.
Existing pages are reused, not duplicated
If the collection already has an index or detail page, MuRu AI fills that page in rather than creating a second one — so it's safe to run again after refining your prompt. You create the collection itself in SP Page Builder, and you still add a menu item pointing at it so the pages appear on the front of your site, exactly as SP Page Builder's own new-page flow requires.
Generate a Joomla Article as an SP Page Builder Layout
SP Page Builder can back a normal Joomla article with a full builder layout through its Joomla Article integration. When that integration is switched on, MuRu AI adds a Generate with SP Page Builder AI button to the toolbar of Content → Articles, right next to New.
Give it an article title and a description of the layout you want. In one step it:
Step 1 — Create the article
A published Joomla article is created in your first article category using Joomla's own article model, so it behaves like any article you'd create by hand.
Step 2 — Build the layout
A complete SP Page Builder layout is generated for the article body and bound to the article through the integration.
Step 3 — Switch it on
The integration is enabled for that article and the rendered layout is written into the article's full text, so it displays on the front of your site straight away.
When it finishes, the window gives you a link to open the new article in the SP Page Builder editor and a link to its normal Joomla article editor.
When the button appears
Only when SP Page Builder's Joomla Article integration is enabled (SP Page Builder editor → Integrations) and your Joomla account has Create permission for articles.
Setup — Five Steps
Step 1 — Install the plugin
Joomla admin → System → Install → Extensions, upload the plugin zip, then enable System - MuRu AI for SP Page Builder under System → Plugins.
Step 2 — Add your license key
Open the plugin's own options and paste the license key from your Lyzerslab dashboard account. Generation is refused until this verifies, and it's re-checked automatically about once an hour after that.
Step 3 — Point it at your AI provider
In the SP Page Builder editor, go to Settings → Generative AI and set an API key and a capable model — the same setting SP Page Builder's own AI text tools already use.
Step 4 — Generate
Open any page (Pages → edit), click Generate AI Page next to Frontend Editor, describe what you want, and click Generate. To build a collection's pages, open the collection and use Generate pages; to build an article, use Generate with SP Page Builder AI on the Articles list.
Step 5 — Update automatically going forward
Future releases show up under System → Update → Extensions once your license is active — no manual re-upload needed.
