Recommended Order & Requirements

Follow this order for the most reliable result, especially on a site you suspect is already compromised:

  1. Back up the full site.
  2. Update SP Page Builder to 6.6.2 or later.
  3. Update or remove JCE if installed.
  4. Install the scanner and run a full review.
  5. Clean menu payloads, delete confirmed malware, and remove rogue asset rows.
  6. Rotate credentials, harden upload folders, and re-scan.
  7. Schedule recurring scans and point alerts at a channel someone actually reads.

Requirements

MuRu Guard runs entirely inside your Joomla administrator -- there is no separate server, database, or hosting requirement beyond what your Joomla install already needs. It doesn't add a single requirement Joomla itself doesn't already have.

  • Joomla: 4.x, 5.x, or 6.x.
  • PHP: 8.1 or later (Joomla 5.x/6.x's own minimum; Joomla 4.x sites on PHP 7.4–8.0 also work). No non-standard extensions -- just the ones a normal Joomla install already needs (curl, json, mbstring, openssl).
  • Database: MySQL 8.0.13+, MariaDB 10.4.6+, or PostgreSQL 12+ -- whatever your Joomla install already runs on.
  • Disk/memory: no fixed minimum beyond Joomla's own. On a very large site, the pre-scan Server Limits advisory checks whether this host will let execution time and memory limits be raised, with a ready-to-paste .user.ini fix if not.

The companion MuRu Guard Shield plugin (for real-time Protection Mode) is optional but recommended if you want live request blocking, not just on-demand scanning. The Smart AI Assistant, Backup & Restore, and the other Pro features need an active license and an internet connection to this site's licensed dashboard account -- nothing else.
