Creating a Header or Footer

Where to find it

Components > Header Footer Builder > Headers & Footers, then New.

How to use it

1. On the Details tab enter a Title. It is shown only in the list. The Alias is filled in for you.
2. In the Publishing box choose the Type (Header or Footer). Set Access and Language if the item should only show for some visitors.
3. Click Design with SP Page Builder. The item is saved, a page is created for it, and the builder opens right on the item screen, under the tabs.
4. Build your header or footer in the builder, then save inside the builder.
5. On the Display rules tab add the Entire site rule.
6. Set Status to Published and click Save & Close.

Open your site: the header or footer now replaces the Helix one.

Good to know

• An item with no display rules shows nowhere until you add one.
• The builder offers Open full screen if you want more room.
• If you have several published headers that all show on the entire site, the one created first is used. Unpublish the one you do not want.

You can unpublish an item at any time: your template's own header or footer comes back exactly as it was, and Joomla's page cache is cleared so the change shows straight away.
