Recommended Order & Requirements

Edition: Free (also in Pro)

Requirements

• Joomla 4.4, 5 or 6.
• PHP 8.1 or newer, with MySQL or MariaDB.
• Helix Ultimate: the template framework this builder is made for.
• SP Page Builder (version 5 or 6): every header and footer is designed with it.

Pro adds one more requirement: the Free package must already be installed, and an active Pro license is needed to use Pro features.

Recommended order

1. Take a full backup of the site (files and database), as you would before installing any extension.
2. Install the Free package. See Installing Joomla Header Footer Builder.
3. Open Components > Header Footer Builder and check the Health Check: every row should be OK.
4. Create a header or footer, design it, add the Entire site rule and publish it. See Creating a header or footer.
5. Optional: install the Pro package and activate your license. See Installing Pro and Activating Your License.

The extension does not touch your template. You can try it on a live site and switch back to your template's own header and footer at any time by unpublishing the item.
