Design Pages & Previewing

How the link works
Each item points to one SP Page Builder page that holds its design (the SP Page Builder page box in Publishing). Design with SP Page Builder creates that page for you the first time, named JHFB Header: your title or JHFB Footer: your title, so each item has a page of its own.
Using an existing page
You can pick any standalone SP Page Builder page in that box. If the page was not created for this item (for example a normal site page such as About), the builder area shows a warning, because editing the design there also changes that page. Click Start a new design page to give the item a page of its own.
If the page is deleted
If the linked page is deleted or unpublished in SP Page Builder, the builder area says so and offers Start a new design page. The Health Check also lists items without a working design. Your theme's own header or footer shows meanwhile.
Preview in context
Open a design page on the front end (for example from SP Page Builder's page list). The site is shown with that item in its header or footer slot, whatever its display rules say, and the page's own content is hidden, so you see the design as visitors will. Design pages ask search engines not to index them.
Previewing an item that is not published is limited to people who can edit headers and footers. Everyone else sees the theme's own header and footer.
